Who am I as a Writer? This is a very interesting question. I have learned a lot about my writing since being a part of this class. In my First Inventory of Writing, I wrote about how I wanted to teach English and be a guiding light to the youth, however as time has gone by my mindset has changed about education completely. We've talked about some heavy hitters like: Dewey, Tate and Strickland. From reading all these philosophies and by my personal preference, I realized teaching isn't for me. Furthermore, I changed my major back to Creative Writing. I love to write and be creative. I love to have my own voice and embark on a new breath taking journey. The thought of Creative Writing gives me chills that tickle down my spine and hop through my skin with excitement. Even thought this class is not solely based on Creative Writing, I still really like the class a lot. Most importantly, I am thankful for this class because it taught me patience as a reader and writer. Some of the readings we had were dull, but I learned to have discipline and take out the important facts from the reading. I feel that this can really help me in the long run because I won't always be able to do the fun and enjoyable assignments in class, I have to buckle down and bare any assignment I am given. Before this class I just liked to write what I wanted to write. I've always hated structured writings and prompts. However, being in this class opened a whole new door to writing. I now see that I can put my creative spin on a topic but also answer the question being given. All in all, I enjoy writing and probably always will, but being in this class helped enhanced that joy and helped me polish up my writing skills.
